This was pretty cool. I liked the general feel of it. However there was a sound you can hear throughout the track that I found very distracting. I think it's a delay coming of some percussion or something. It seems just out of sync from the track to not belong but not quite 'groovy', y'know? That's all I've got to say really. It was cool though.

DESHIEL responds:

So that one sound completely ruins it all for your?

Hey man, sounds like a good effort to me. I don't have much of a scale to judge electronic music on but I can tell you that I like this. I remember trying my hand at electro way back but it just came out sounding cheesy and generic. While there's not much to comment on here (which may be a critique in and of itself) I think I would enjoy hearing a full length, developed track like this.

Valon129 responds:

Thanks for your review. I agree that there is not much to comment on, this is pretty much one part of a whole song and a not very developped one too. I wanted to have feedbacks mostly on my sounds and the overall music since i don't usually do this kind of stuff.

Not too bad. I think this track was at it's strongest when the electronic elements were more prevalent like at 1:54. I thought the atmosphere was especially good at 1:30 and 1:54. Unfortunately I can't get a feel for the piano melody at all and it's slightly 'out-of-time'-ish quality hurts the track a lot. Keep at it though. I think this is one you will look back at later and think 'I could've done that way better.'

geniebmusic responds:

Hi there! Thank you for the constructive criticism. I truly appreciate it :) I will work harder for sure. If you will, could you PM me and describe the "out-of-time" quality for me? That was an issue I had before and I thought I had done a better job here (but I obviously didn't LOL!) Again, thank you!

Friggin' stellar. Very high quality tone, riffs and playing. Now make a full song with the knowledge you've gained and make my day.

PirateCrab responds:

Thank you sire! Full song on its way! :)

A fairly good quality track. I don't have much to say about it. This style of metal could do with more polish so keep working and practicing on your mixing skills and the like. The riffs were alright. It got a bit boring around the middle I thought.

Ow that guitar sound grates... The kick drum was playing at a really awkward rhythm too. Generic was right. Sorry.

StodgyAyatollah responds:

No need to apologize since that was pretty much what I was shooting for and I don't expect high ratings for this. Like I said it fit the project well, it wasn't really meant to stand on it's own.

This is pretty good. The atmosphere really matches well with the context you've provided and it has some really cool sounding timbres in it. The best bit of the track is when the percussion comes in and starts to really drive the piece along.
It makes me wish however that the drums started to develop at least a minute earlier because I feel that the 2 minutes before it got a bit boring. It still works as an intro but because the loop is only 4 minutes long it takes half the track to get to the satisfying part.

EnigmaticWolf responds:

It's fit for an OST (games, movies). That means it isn't a normal song that plays by itself, but plays behind the scenery the OST was built to compliment. It's background music. I agree only if you take this song as a real song, but it's not a real song, it's a song played behind greater elements. It isn't about being in the front, it's about supporting greater elements, like the game's atmospheric levels. I am 100% sure that if you would've played this during an environment it was made for while fighting monsters, the song would fit exactly in the way I originally intended for it to fit.

Thank you for listening, and your opinion is considered. Go try it, then tell me your final opinion.

Cheers.

I too like the chords you use here. They're really creative and certainly portrays the description. It's quite dynamic too. The texture is too thick however to be considered proper 8-bit to me although I think it could work in an old point-and-click adventure game. It does sound like it's been wrote/played on a piano and then changed to a square wave and with note this thick it presents some phase issues and detracts from the harmony. Good, but could work better with a different timbre.

Calamaistr responds:

it wasnt preplayed in a piano :p

i know my 8bit isnt always the actual thing but i just prefer to compose whole orchestrations with chip plugins because the soundtype lends itself so well for accuracy. :)

This one's not as good as your other tracks. Musically it's just not as substantial. It might be ok background music but it doesn't really challenge or excite enough for another listen.

Damn son, that was awesome! Crunchy as fuck and get's you all pumped up. My only beef is that the low-end sounds kinda weird in my ears. It's like it's 2 basses that have been panned hard left and right. There's like this weird separation between the speakers and it's actually quite distracting.

KKSlider60 responds:

This is probably my best metal track so far. I like how it's mixed and it can be very versatile.
Glad you enjoyed it ^^
